Advanced Open Water
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is the next step in your diving journey, designed for certified divers looking to enhance their skills and confidence. This fast-paced course consists of a series of 6 dives over the weekend, where you'll perform skills learned with minimal instruction. Arrival times at the dive site will be set by your instructor and communicated in advance.
Students will complete a minimum of six open-water dives, including the required dives of Navigation, Night or low visibility diving, and Deep diving (~80 feet), plus three additional dives based on personal preferences and instructor discretion. Available specialty options include:
- Search and recovery
- Light salvage
- Hunting and collecting
- Exploration and underwater mapping
- Non-penetration wreck diving
- Observation and data collection
- Underwater Photography
This course introduces you to various specialties, allowing you to explore new dive sites and activities under the supervision of a certified instructor. You will also be certified to dive up to 130 feet/40 meters.
Please note: A $165 rescheduling fee for the advanced open water dives will apply to no-shows and reschedules made within 48 hours of the course.
Must be Open Water certified and at least 10 years old to participate.
Students are required to provide their own gear, or rent from the Louisville Dive Center at the student's expense.
Other required gear include: primary and backup dive light/torch and tank light. An AOW gear kit can be purchased from the Louisville Dive Center at a discounted rate.
