What to Expect
This fast-paced course takes place over a weekend and includes a series of six open-water dives, where you'll demonstrate and build upon skills with minimal instruction—promoting independent thinking and situational awareness in real-world environments.

Arrival times at the dive site will be coordinated by your instructor and communicated in advance.

Advanced Open Water Dives (6 total):
You'll complete the following required dives:

• Navigation
• Night or Low Visibility
• Deep Dive (~80 feet)
• And choose from additional specialties such as:
• Search and Recovery
• Light Salvage
• Hunting and Collecting
• Exploration and Underwater Mapping
• Non-Penetration Wreck Diving
• Observation and Data Collection
• Underwater Photography

Successful completion certifies you to dive up to 130 feet (40 meters) and introduces you to a range of exciting diving activities under instructor supervision.

Requirements & Important Info

• Must be Open Water certified and at least 10 years old
• A medical waiver must be completed before receiving eLearning access. This can be signed online or at Louisville Dive Center.
• Personal gear required (mask, fins, snorkel, booties). Additional AOW-required gear: primary and backup dive lights, and tank light. A discounted AOW Gear Kit is available for purchase.
• Students must provide or rent their own gear, excluding tanks, weights, and the Avelo system (which are provided).
• Accommodations, transportation, park entry fees, and meals are NOT included.
• $165 rescheduling fee applies to no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of the course.
