Instructor Crossover
The NAUI Instructor Crossover Course (ICC) is designed to train and qualify applicants in good standing with non-NAUI recreational scuba training organizations as a NAUI Instructor member.
During the course, candidate instructors learn effective methods to teach skin and scuba diving in compliance with NAUI Diving Course Standards.
Get Started
- Minimum age is 18 years by the water phase of the course.
- Current certification as a scuba instructor in good standing for the year immediately preceding the ICC workshop with a recognized training agency.
- Minimum one-year experience as an instructor and taught or assistant with at least two programs resulting in certification.
- A minimum of 100 logged open water scuba dives with a minimum of 50 hours of bottom time. Dives shall be in varied environment, depth, and activities.
- ITC/CD is to ensure adequate student knowledge and one open water dive may be used as a screening dive.
- Medical Approval - Verification of good physical condition as documented by a medical examination and unconditional approval for diving by a licensed physician within the preceding 12 months.
What’s Next?
Upon completion of the NAUI Instructor Crossover Course (ICC), provided all prerequisites are met, graduates are qualified to apply for NAUI Instructor membership. Active-status NAUI Instructors may independently teach NAUI sanctioned courses and authorize NAUI certification for graduates. Prerequisites For Entering The Course

Gear
- Instructor candidates must provide and be responsible for the care and maintenance of ALL THEIR OWN diving equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, computer).
- Since Advanced Open Water, Rescue, Master Diver, and DFA Pro certifications are prerequisites for this course, the following personal gear is required: primary and backup lights, tank light, throw bag, 10 ft webbing, first aid kit/pocket mask, dive slate, DSMB, finger spool/reel, and compass.
- All required gear can be purchased from the newly renovated Louisville Dive Center retail shop. As a Instructor candidate, you are eligible for a 20% discount on gear purchases.
The course will be conducted using hybrid learning (virtual and in person classroom sessions), as well as in person confined and open water sessions.
